Weekend in the Adirondacks

We thought this kind of looked like a Jeep comercial :)

The view from our balcony.

At the top of Whiteface mountain.

Walking through the tunnel to the castle at the top of Whiteface. Walton loved this!

One of the perks of being parents: dressing up your kids for your amusement!

What a mountain climber!

This has been such a busy summer, so despite our desire to take a vacation, it hasn't happened. Thankfully, we were able to take a little "getaway" last weekend to the Adirondacks, specifically, Lake Placid. This is a beautiful little ski resort town, that is nestled among the mountains and borders two lakes. For a little trivia, it has twice hosted the winter olympics, including the historical (so Bill tells me) "Miracle" when the U.S. hockey team beat the heavily favored Russian team. We stayed in a nice resort at the top of a hill. From our balcony we could look down on the town and lake, and see the mist hanging in the mountains. Lovely. We drove to the top of one of the peaks and hiked around, walked through the downtown and looked at the shops, and ate some of the best fish and chips that we have EVER had. Wish I had those now, actually. Though brief, it was a nice litte respite in our busy summer. Now we want to go back and see it during the winter!
